​The only constant with health insurance is that it is always changing and evolving. How do you cope with the rapid changes? A lot of agents wonder if health insurance will change so much they won't be able to keep up, or it won't be worth it. That's where we're here to help.

There have been many times in my health insurance career that I had to dig deep to find the positive in the rapid-fire changes that came with the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010.

Since then, I'm sure all of us in this market segment have felt frustrated by the many unanswered questions and the inconsistency of the answers that we get from those that are supposed to be "in-the-know."  With the recent passage of the AHCA through the House, I suspect that even as this bill moves through the Legislative branches of our Government, there will be many unanswered questions that none of us can yet answer.

Let's take a walk down memory lane to before the Affordable Care Act was signed into Law, when individual and family rates were approximately 1/3 of the cost of employer-sponsored coverage.

At that time, PA had safety net plans that would cover those that couldn't obtain employer-sponsored coverage, or for those that were rejected from traditional individual plans. These plans were guaranteed issue and cheaper than the coverage available today.
